Rocky Mountaineer Train Schedule 2025
Departure/Arrival: Dates, Times & Station Locations
The Rocky Mountaineer operates from April 15 to October 13 in 2025. For specific departure dates, continue reading or look at specific train trip packages for exact start dates.
For most routes the train departs twice each week. Periodically there are three weekly departures from Vancouver to Banff and Lake Louise and from Lake Louise and Banff to Vancouver.
PLEASE NOTE: Dates listed below refer to the date the train departs. All packages that include a hotel night before the train departs will begin one day earlier to account for the night at a hotel.
Vancouver to Banff/Lake Louise Departures
The Rocky Mountaineer departs Vancouver for Banff and Lake Louise each Monday and Friday beginning on April 15, 2025 and ending October 11, 2025. The train also departs Tuesdays from May 7 – May 28, 2025 and from July 2-September 24, 2025.
In October there are four departures from Vancouver to Banff and Lake Louise; The last train of the season departs October 11, 2025.
The Rocky Mountaineer departs Banff and Lake Louise for Vancouver on each Wednesday and Sunday from April 17, 2025 to October 13, 2025. It also depart Banff and Lake Louise on Thursdays from May 9 to September 26, 2025.
In October, the train departs Banff and Lake Louise for Vancouver on October 2, 6, 8, 9, 13, 2025. October 13th is the last westbound (Banff or Lake Louise to Vancouver) train of the 2025 season.
The train does not begin or end in Calgary. It begins or ends in Banff or Lake Louise. Transfers are available between Banff/Lake Louise and Calgary airport or downtown Calgary.
Passengers can travel between Calgary and the Canadian Rockies by shuttle bus, tour bus or rental car. Distance between Banff and Calgary: 128 km or 80 miles. Some packages include transfers between the Canadian Rockies and either downtown Calgary or Calgary airport.
Vancouver to Jasper Departures
The Rocky Mountaineer departs Vancouver for Jasper each Tuesday and Friday beginning April 16, 2025 and ending October 11, 2025.
The Rocky Mountaineer departs Jasper for Vancouver on each Sunday and Thursday from April 18, 2025 to October 13, 2025.
Vancouver to Jasper Via Whistler Departures
The Rocky Mountaineer departs Vancouver for Jasper via Whistler each Saturday from April 27 to October 5, 2025.
The Rocky Mountaineer departs Jasper for Vancouver via Whistler each Tuesday from April 30 to October 8, 2025.

*On this rail day, the train will arrive/depart from the Pemberton platform, with a complimentary transfer to/from your Whistler accommodation.
At the end of your rail journey
Depending on the rail route and direction in which you travel, arrival at your destination ranges from afternoon to early evening. Rail travel in North America is occasionally subject to unforeseen delays. While Rocky Mountaineer is treated as a priority on the train tracks it uses, occasional delays do occur. For that reason, please book accommodation in your arrival destination at the end of your journey, and do not arrange connecting transportation, including flights, on this day. Rocky Mountaineer can arrange for airport transfers, additional hotel nights, and tour options at the start or end of your rail journey with advance notice.
