Only one train company runs trains from Vancouver to Whistler and Whistler to Jasper National Park: The Rocky Mountaineer. The route, called the RainForest to Gold Rush, is the only Rocky Mountaineer route that includes more than two days on the train. It includes 2.5 days that includes the spectacular 4 hour rail journey from Vancouver to Whistler.
Although the trip between Vancouver and Whistler isn’t long, it’s spectacular from start to finish. You’ll begin by following the shoreline along Howe Sound through North and then West Vancouver, Canada’s wealthiest community.
The train follows the Pacific coast through the up and coming town of Squamish and the amazing Cheakamus Canyon. After that you start getting into much higher mountains, glaciers with raging rivers and serene lakes. You’ll arrive in at the Whistler Creekside train station sometime before Noon. You’ll have a free afternoon in the winter ski resort of Whistler where you’ll find Excellent Restaurants and Lots to Do.
You’ll spend the night in Whistler and the following morning board the Rocky Mountaineer first for Quesnel where you’ll spend the night and then it’s on to Jasper National Park, one of the most beautiful places in North America.
